Call for Internship Applications

Are you interested in the Cold War era? Are you looking for an internship in an international environment? Would you like to spend your time as an intern with something useful and not with photocopying and making coffee? If so, this internship is for you!
The Cold War History Research Center Budapest seeks students of 20th Century History and/or the Cold War for substantive, research-centered internship positions.

Now we call for applications for the period between March and September, 2013.

Possible tasks for interns:

  • Gathering knowledge on 20th Century Hungarian, East European and Cold War History
  • Conducting research in libraries, archives and online databases,
  • Editing and developing the center's website www.coldwar.hu including compiling chronologies, bibliographies and other research aids.
  • Translating and/or proofreading.

Current research projects:

  • A Chronology of the Soviet Bloc, 1945–1991 (Main project for 2009–2013)
  • The Collapse of Communism and the End of the Cold War, 1988–1991
  • East-Central Europe and the German question
  • Hungary and the East–West relationship
  • Hungary’s relationship to the countries of the Soviet Bloc
  • The history of the Warsaw Pact

Payment, unfortunately cannot by provided by the Center. The internships, however, are eligible for scholarship funding from the European Union. Please contact your university's ERASMUS coordinator, career service or try to arrange other ways of funding if required.

Required language skills: English is a must, any language of the region is a plus, Hungarian is an asset.
